Crafting recipes are dependent on (dye) placement.

Your [banner] may be placed in any square of the grid that is [empty].

Up to six(6) pattern layers may be added to a banner in survival. Any more must be added via commands. See the MNCS link below to generate a command for your banner.

This is really cool! It is just what I wanted to see the other day!
Just one question, How do you make a enchanted golden apple? I can make Golden Apples but not Enchanted Golden Apples (aka Notch Apple) please tell me, how do you make one?

The enchanted golden apple, a.k.a. OPple, a.k.a. Notch Apple is crafted with one apple and 8 Gold Blocks.

Similar to the regular golden apple, which is made from 8 Gold Ingots.

HERE is a list of all basic crafting recipes found in Minecraft 1.8.3 (exluding the hose armor, which was removed)

i've never heard the term "OPple" before but what i have heard is: "God Apple" "notch apple" or "Gapple"

I have a question: When you use items like the mob heads or plants to create a design on the banner is there a way to/how do you then color the desgns?

Yes! Simply add any dye along with the object for the emblem in the recipe.
