Minecraft has changed by NetworkPCE
In 2009 when Minecraft was made public for the first time, as alpha. The game was very simple with low amounts of goals, aside from building and surviving. It had simple caves, creepers, zombies and other mobs. However, unlike today the game was very simple.
Graphics were different, cobblestone as an example looked completely different. It became smooth and completely changed my view on Minecraft.
Later on when multiplayer was made for Minecraft, it was a huge success and the people loved it. However, servers were made to enjoy the game, to play with your friends.
Back in 2009 - 2011 Minecraft was a game that you played for fun with your friends, you built your house, you gathered some diamonds. You tried to build a town. You made amazing tnt cannons to shoot at eachothers houses.
2012 - 2014 Added: Craftbukkit, Commercial servers, More modes, mobs, ender dragon, more worlds, more graphics. It all became different, it's nothing like 2009. Unlike the old Minecraft today it is filled with hackers, DDoSers and ridicolous features.
PvP is one of the most popular server modes on Minecraft, PvP is not a serious part of the game. Survival and building is what Minecraft really is about.
Today making a server is a way of earning money, most servers just exist to earn money. Shit tons of it.
Nowadays, old players from the alpha times have stopped playing the game. Wonder why? They changed the game far to much, wolfs were still ok. But brewing, enchanting, and The End.
So to the end of the conclusion, Minecraft is no longer the building game. It's a do whatever you want game, where servers are money making machines. Where there are more hackers and DDoSers than COD has ever had together.
Yes Minecraft has changed a lot...

Have something to say?
Anyway, the guy on the video talked about how pokemon players complain about the new names, even though the old ones were equally awful. I mean, come on, 'Muk'? A pile of.... sewage. When red & blue players say "Oh man, the new one sucks, the old one was great", they seem to miss over the fact that pokemon designs are nearly always weird/stupid.
There's a name for this, though I can't remember it, where people only remember the good things about something in the past. This is exactly what's happening here.
People complain about Minecraft changing for the worse... but let's face it, there have always been a few issues with Minecraft. Besides, Mojang have added more good things than bad, and with such a vast fanbase, Mojang probably found it difficult to communicate with us.
It's literally impossible to satisfy fifteen million people.
dia + sub for you
Minecraft sure changed but I can't really point out any drawbacks in the never versions. I only see improvements. The game lags way less then it used to, there are more blocks to build, more in game commands, which enable changes to the world environment behavior, command blocks, and so much more. And don't let me start to talk about all the community projects which add so much to the game.
Ok there are ddos attacks but I don't remember to see less of them in the past. I think that more serious server owners have realized that they need a top notch network security to run a server hence, more of them invest into them earlier, which is never a bad thing.
For those who would like to go back and enjoy survival with their friends, Mojang has added Minecraft realms. Or if you are a bit more of a computer person, you can run your own server, using a simple VPN (e.g. Hamachi) to be more secure and enjoy it that way. If you have a tiny bit advanced computer skills, then you can even set up a Bukkit server, add cool plugins, and enjoy the game even more then plain Minecraft.
If Minecraft wouldn't constantly advance from Mojang's and community's side, I'm quite sure I wouldn't play it anymore, thus there are almost no drawback compared to the past.
When again, nowadays we have a much larger amount of hackers, ddosers and problems. The reason is pretty simple though, in a big community there are always a big amount of flaws.
Again i am not planning to change my mind about the server payments though, the only ones who should earn money of a game are the developers. Mineplex even pays there staff, Mineplex is a business not a hobby for the owner, the same goes for many other servers.
