Minecraft physics are weird. A dirt block can float five meter/metres in the air. But when pistons are defying physics. No, a piston couldn't do this. Pistons don't defy physics. Or do they? While being bored I timed the piston. At and average of 1 meter per 0.14 second converted into Miles Per Hour is around 16 mph. So a Block wouldn't stop at one meter it would keep going.
