YOGSCAST Bebopvox has the full rights and credits for this. I want to share it, because it's a serious theme to talk about it .
Let's start.
And more events that never took place, as well as appearances from some YouTube persona and pixelmon. The site claimed to be sponsored by Nickelodeon, red bull, Xbox and big time rush but no hint of that taking place at the venue.
Of the events that did take place no cash was given as advertised. Any prize money people were able to win was dealt through paypal.
The convention was supposed to be held from 12pm - 6pm. The doors opened at 12:15pm with little to nothing displayed on the "convention floor." The show runners had to "cancel" events because they claim that the guests were rushing the doors trying to get in because they were so excited. However this was not the case because everyone had children with them and wanted them to be safe. They still felt the need to close the event down just before 3pm because people were getting angry on the amount of money they spent ($50 a ticket!) on tickets and hotel rooms/travel costs to go to this event that was not what they were promised.
There were no real checks of tickets and you can virtually attend the convention without having to show a ticket because the person at the door was a volunteer and didn't care to. There was no security, no real organization to any of the convention, and within half an hour angry parents were looting decorations (cheap cardboard cutouts of minecraft characters) in order to get their moneys worth.
Edit 1: getting more info to post here and editing what I have throughout the day
Edit 2: Event Info! http://imgur.com/a/aI72m#0 And while the website is still up - http://motmfl.com/
Last Edit: Thanks to the amazing minecraft community we have, word of this has been reached to Mojang and its staff and everything from here on out will play out as it should be. On a personal note I wish all the parents and those who paid to go to this horrid event (I did not for I was part of the musical act they had) get their refunds and another chance to bring smiles to your children's faces again after a disaster of a "convention."
This is the Facebook Group - Open if you want to see pictures, and more details.
This is the Reddit Post - Open if you want to see more details
How-to Prevent:
1. Don't pay your tickets with PayPal. It's harder to refund your money.
2. See if the meeting/convention is actually booked.
3. If you are not sure for something, please see if there's a contact number, email or something and search for more details.
4.Try to not go to a convention not agreed by Mojang/ or hosted by Mojang.
Guys thanks for reading.
I literally have no words to describe the amount of hatred that has built up from this. You don't mess with the hopes and dreams of kids. That is a territory that no human being should dare cross into. After watching this video and reviewing what was said by parents on the Facebook group; I'm in utter shock. There were comments from some kids on there too and it was utterly depressing. I do anything to make it up to everyone that went to that shambling mess. Even if I can't make something to compare to Minecon, I'd do the very best to make it better and I'm sure anyone else would do the same. Literally kids's parents payed over $100+ for one ticket to go there.

The person who ran the thing.
If not, thats crazy.
They don't deserve the money. They are sick.
also thats illegal XD
Well this is a sad thing, it will also make the steps made by parents and others that plan on going to conventions to do a lot more research and hopefully catch the red flags that show that it is a scam. It's sad something like this had to happen but it was bound to happen. I hope everyone that got scammed get thier money back, but it seems unlikely as this dude will try and cover his tracks.
EDIT: I watched the video... I failed...
