Well we all pretty much know what the main idea of minecraft is. DON'T GET BLOWN UP BY CREEPERS. Usually, your first night in minecraft beta will be your worst night. This is usually because your out collecting wood at night and a creeper sneaks up on you and you have your sword of hand. So you should set it to peaceful mode on your first night. That way you can stock up on wood and weapons. When you work up the guts to go mining, you can search for iron and coal. I wouldn't suggest looking for diamonds yet though. Coal is pretty easy to find. At first you'll think you need one hundred pieces of it, but you don't need that much. If you don't want to lose all your stuff in caves then put the stuff that you don't need in a chest. You probably won't get all of this done in one night, but enjoy minecraft beta.
