I have this (Partially developed) idea for a mod involving metals from fantasy words. Some examples:
Yes, I'm completely serious, It's that expensive.
You can't make armor out of it, but any tools made from it are like iron tools except they NEVER lose durability. ever. They last literally forever. Except maybe if you drop them into lava, although I'm considering making darksteel tools immune to burning... Either way, they can't be enchanted, so you can't have an everlasting fortune pick or something, but if you want a tool that will never, ever, run out, and you have a bunch of spare obsidian, darksteel is the way to go.
Mithril. I have a lot of different ideas for this one.
This means if you want to craft more mithril without a nether star you have to keep at least one at all times and never use that last one. It would also technically mean you'd have to do it one at a time, althoughI think It might be possible to mod around that.
Here's the nether star idea:
And the alternate recipe:
Any more ideas are appreciated! This mod will likely not be coming out any time soon, so don't get your hopes up!

- Darksteel from Magic The Gathering
- Mithril from Lord Of The Rings and possibly other worlds

Mithril. I have a lot of different ideas for this one.
- It comes with built-in enchantments depending on what kind of tool/armor you make with it (I've mostly decided against this one.)
- It makes enchantments cheaper.
- It allows you to see the result of enchantments in enchanting tables.
- It allows FULL control over enchantments, but at an increased level cost. (Still requires bookshelves for more powerful enchantments).
