Alright guys I have a rant so be warned, this is just me bitching at the stupidity of some people.
When I started playing Minecraft, the people were great. They put in their own time, their own hard earned dollar to do projects, run servers, and create mods for the benefit of the community. Minecraft had a notoriously friendly group of players that were community oriented and accepting, and helpful and creative.
What the fuck happened? Today I saw a post that was recruiting for a youtube team. There is nothing wrong with this in of itself. But the kid asked for a video producer, a script writer, an idea guy, a guy who manages and comes up with projects, and somebody to buy a server for him. All he was going to do was talk into a microphone, reading a script he didn't write, talking about something he didn't do. Does anybody else see anything wrong with this?
The second part to my rant involves originality. The thing that I really love about minecraft is that there are endless possibilities. You can make anything you want, and this is a great feature. People have come up with breathtaking landscapes and stunning buildings and creations. It fuels the community, and we need people like this. But for every ONE good idea, there are ONE HUNDRED bad copies. For example, the SMP server is so overdone. It is a timeless classic, but people show no originallity or pride in their server. They have no original ideas incorporated into the way they do things.
My last rant is kind of general and can be applied to anything really, but it seems prevalent in recent times. This is the simple principle that if you are gonna do something, put some god damn effort into it. Pardon my language, but I am so fucking tired of having lazy shits who slapped together an unoriginal, boring, project that they put very little energy into spam me and all the forums to get 1000 views. It is annoying and pathetic. I guess all I am trying to say is to take some pride, and make sure that your are representing yourself the best you can. Because your reputation is important.
Alright thanks for listening everybody. I really appreciate those who don't do these things, and are upholding the reputation the Minecraft community has for quality and originality.

The mentality of the "younger generation" (I say this as someone whos over 30) in general in the world today is they want all the fame and fortune for NONE of the hard work that usually goes into these things...
Alot of it, as you have pointed out, is the mentality of "kids" that "oh this is popular, I shall copy it and be just as popular".... yes, a popularity contest!... Popular doesnt always mean good. And if your just copying someone else, does that mean your popularity is your own? Or does it just make you a copy-cat douchebag?
The other thing, and I really should make my own blog on this, is especially here in PMC that people just submit crap and shit for the sake of submitting something to get attention to their crap.
Im talking about here in the blog section, you get people submitting an "article" that is basicly "Who want make server?", how in the fuck is that an article??? Its cheap lazy douchieness (thats a real word, look it up! :p) that annoys the hell out of me.
Same with the "Lets Play" section, its almost impossible to find an ACTUAL Lets Play in that section because of the constant "who want help me?" or "Who want server?" posts on it, that have NOTHING to with the content of that section....
I could go on and on but I feel my blood pressure rising and I think I need a lay down now!
