Chapter 2
Thalan began cutting down foes his charge had put him and his men deep in the enemy thrall, while they had superior armour and weapons they were outnumbered. He heard a scream and looked to the source, one of his men had been engulfed in black flames Thalan remembered the report and looked round for the black armour. A bolt of lightning then struck and flung him off his horse, he flipped and landed and saw the scythe it dripped blood.

"Hmmm a paladin eh, this could be fun." The scythe wielder said, Thalan growled slightly and span his blade, the scythe wielder turned his scythe into its' sword form and charged Thalan. Their blades clashed and Thalan knew he was strong, they exchanged blows but non met their target, Thalan focused some magic in his sword and tried to shatter the blade of the scythe but it bounced off violently.

"No no no that won't work Paladin this scythe is enchanted just as much if not more than your sword." The scythe wielder said, he then slashed at Thalan and sent him flying he dashed forward and stabbed Thalan in the leg. His blood flew out and splashed against his armour, he then hit Thalan with a lightning bolt which sent him flying. Thalan saw that both sides were retreating.

"Hmmm looks like play time is over, you know what seeing as you aren't dead I'll tell you something, your all wondering what I am well I am a Shade Knight." He calmly said with that he turned and through blurred vision Thalan saw Black wings sprout from his back and he flew away, he heard his men around him and he blacked out as they carried him away.


Thalan awoke to water being thrown onto his face. He looked round and saw Yangto and Tayani on one side, Yangto had a few minor wounds and Tayani was clear of any. Thalan smiled to himself, she truly was a fighter when needed. Tayani asked what had happened and he explained about his duel, at the mention of a Shade Knight everyone began talking, they were meant to have been wiped out years ago. Thalan was informed that the main battle was over for now and there were just skirmishes going on, after finishing talking Thalan checked his wound. Completely gone due to the armys' healers and his armor repaired and enchanted even more so, Tayani granted him a break before the next time the two armies fully clashed. Thalan just lay there, his force was near fine only some wounds and none dead, he bit his lip and cursed. That Shade was stronger than him and had more magic, he grabbed his sword and went to train.





Tayani sat in her tent. Going through reports and conversing about fallen soldiers. She had only become queen a few days ago.


"Our force has lost less but their's larger, we need a plan to get rid of the shade knight and find the commander." She whispered to herself.
