Hello mates, Polski8350 speaking. Recently I noticed how many raiding servers are out there, and I thought it would be good to teach you guys how to cannon. Cannoning is mainly based on memorization and redstone knowledge, so you would probably want to touch up on that. Oh, also, this guide is based on servers that include ObsidianDestoyer or some kind of similar plugin that allows you to break obsidian using tnt. I don't like servers without that concept due to the fact that you can make unraidable bases.

Test #1: Typical Small-Scaled Cannon

As an intro, there are two main types of cannons; normal or hybrid. We will be focusing on the normal cannon right now. Normal cannons you would use to typically raid any base not surrounded by water or lava. Once you learn a bit of cannoning, you will probably be using an advanced model instead of this cannon. Anyway this is good for starters or if you found a weak base not requiring a far distance or mass amounts of tnt.

Test #2: Tnt Usage

You want to have the right amount of tnt to launch your "bullet", as you could say. Usually while raiding I end up using trial-and-error to reach the opponents base. Overtime you will remember how far each amounts of launching tnt will make your bullet go.

Test #3: Hybrid Cannons

Hybrid cannons are used for bases covered in water or lava aka wet walls. Hybrids can be more difficult to master though. You have to make sure that the sand and tnt land in the same spot, and that the tnt lands before the sand. This can be frustrating, but it is possible. Also it may be annoying but you have to ignite the bullet right when the launching tnt explodes so the sand doesn't fall through and break into an item drop.

Test #4: Diode Usage

Diodes, or redstone repeaters, can have an effect on your cannon. Use them at the right time so your bullet explodes at the right distance from the cannon.

Test #5: Dispenser Usage

Dispensers basically just make your life easier. I use them so I don't have to constantly refill my cannon, shot after shot.

Test #6: Comparator Usage

Comparators were a nice addition to cannoning since Minecraft 1.5. In cannons, comparators can be used to increase the amount of bullets you use per shot rapidly. You can use these to save some time if you want a quick raid, or if you have to clear out a lot of land underground to reach a base.

Test #7: Adding Cannon Canopies

Canopies can increase the launching tnt in your cannon. I typically use these for bases requiring a long shot from my cannon. Just for your information, the diodes work for the dispenser above it as well, so you can manage canopies easier.

Test #8: Launching Tnt Compression

Tnt Compression is another way to make your bullet launch farther, and it is also very efficient. If you can time it correctly, tnt compression can make all of the launching tnt move into the block behind the bullet, so the launching tnt can blast the bullet much farther with less material.

Test #9: Cannon Barrels

The barrel of the cannon is the end of it whose function is to make the bullet more precise. I use useless material like dirt or cobblestone for the barrel. This technique is very useful if you are underground where you can't shoot high but you need the bullet to go far.

The Punisher:

Here's a cannon I created after months of learning and experience. It uses the comparator method to produce 42 bullets from 6 dispensers. This cannon is just for the lol's and awe of others

Cannoning is an essential method for raiding servers. Use and learn from this blog to become the superior, feared mastermind of a server. Happy raiding!
