OPEN GL 2.1

Any one else feeling bummed about the open GL update coming in future updates?
That means us people who just got theire pc in 2012 will have to go out and spend $50 - $100 for a Graphics Card just to play minecraft why dose it need open GL 2.1? it's not battle field 3! its a game withe mostly kids ages 9 and up play there parents are not going to buy them a graphics card... and im not paying for one because its not broken...
