I figured since there are two other posts concerning my Pokemon remake, well, I should update you...

*First off I did manage to complete that StarCraft 2 texture pack. In the nick of time before the 1.3 update. hehehe...I might update it again I suppose.

As for the game, I found a fault in dire need of attention. The map loader I was so sure of actually fumbled with my array of tiles and had them scattered everywhere. Currently, it's doing a lot better, and I mapped out the solid tiles I will need for Pallet Town (the first town in the classic Pokemon generation) and I even added some "shrubbery".

Take a look at the screen capture thumbnail. You love it?

So at least that was a little reprieve from the massive trouble with collision detection I've been having (I've been too lazy to try my newest bug fixes) although the last few tiles on the map seem to be incorrect so I may straighten that out. Hopefully I will get Raichu following Ash too (it is Pokemon yellow ORANGE, after all) before delving into the rest.

Maybe this should be on a game developer's blogging site, but I figure this site may have some interested souls.

What else...well, this is basically my agenda before I call this piece-of-crap game "complete":

1) Collision Detection
2) Changing Levels (Indoors by colliding with a door tile, different towns I suppose, etc.)
3) Battle System (With the animations and the Pokemon and the accursed collision detection in tall grass or in front of trainers, leveling perhaps). I guess I should include reading signs and such as well since they all have to do with window panes.

Well, hopefully I'll get most or all of this done before summer is over, and then I can move into some more legit (like publishing for apps) games in C# and C++, or whatever .NET language. I'm getting a bit tired of Java and its hulking libraries. Also, the screenshot does look a bit more Colorful than the original Pokemon Yellow. Meh, I don't think adding bitshifting of colors to make them slightly lighter or darker depending on the town would be worth my time.

I'll post the finished product somewhere when I'm done. Signing off!
