In a repeating, always active command block type the following command replacing things in parentheses with the specified variable then tag all players that will have the trail with whatever tag name you put in place of:(tagnamehere)


/execute at @a[​tag=(tagnamehere)] run particle Minecraft:(particle name) ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 0 0 0
