When and how did you first discover Minecraft or its community? Do you still play the game today?

I first started playing Minecraft around 2013. The first version I played was Minecraft PE Lite on my iPad.

Do you regularly play any other games besides Minecraft?

It’s always on and off for me when it comes to playing video games. On days when I have nothing to do I play games like Terraria, Stardew Valley, and Team Fortress 2 with my friends.

For those of you learning about you for the first time, is there anything that you would like them to know? For fun, how would you describe yourself in just 3 words?

For those meeting me for the first time, I would tell them I’m an artist of several genres like pixel art, cartoons, and the occasional realism. I’d like to describe myself as helpful, artistic & persistent.

I see that you have uploaded various types of content to Planet Minecraft, including maps, skins, artwork, and blog posts. What's your favorite type of content to work on?

Ooh! That’s a tough one. My top three picks would be my animations, stories, and artwork. If I had to narrow it down to only one type, I would choose the stories. Gru’s Clues is my favorite submission in this genre because it’s my biggest personal project that I’ve worked on for over a year.

What keeps you coming back to Planet Minecraft? Is it the content community or a mixture of both (or something else entirely)?

I use PMC primarily to post my artwork and to look at other people’s artwork. Originally I used it to upload Minecraft skins and learn the basics of pixel art but it eventually evolved into learning to draw in general.

There is a wide variety of styles of artwork on your profile from pixel art and collages to cartoons. What made you pick cartoons as your art style of choice?

I chose to create cartoons because I tried to translate my pixel artwork into HD drawings to make it faithful to its original counterpart. In the beginning it didn’t turn out as well as I imagined since smaller features like the noses and ears weren’t in the pixel art images. After a couple of weeks of practice I learned to make my drawings more unique with more life to them. I also chose this style because it was something that felt right to me. It was easy to learn and looks great even at a beginner’s level.

You've made many different support stamps for different members of the PMC community so far. Which was your favorite avatar to draw?

My favorite avatar to make was FishStacks’s support stamp. I considered faithfully recreating his avatar with all of his accessories but instead I chose to go the funny route with him being a skeleton with the funny grin meme. To me it was the funniest to make.

What are some tips that you could give to someone who wants to start drawing their own cartoons or cartoon characters?

When it comes to cartoon characters, I’d say to start with learning the basics of anatomy. Cartoons are an exaggeration of realism. If you were to start making cartoons before knowing how faces naturally look, it’s difficult going in head first with no prior knowledge of this topic. Once you have the basics down, you’ll have much more freedom to draw whatever you want. For cartoons in general, I use the same steps as I did with my characters. Study the specific object you want to draw, then use that knowledge to make stylized images.

Have you used any tutorials and/or resources (either physical or online) to improve your artwork that others would also benefit from?

Haha, I’ve watched countless tutorials on both pixel art and drawing anatomy. For me, there’s no singular tutorial that will answer all your needs. I’ve gathered a couple of links for both pixel art and drawing in general to help those who are just starting.
  1. How to Pixel Art - Beginner To PRO Tutorial - This is an excellent beginner-friendly tutorial that is helpful for both pixel art and drawing in general.

  2. The Ultimate Pixel Art Tutorial - A longer and more in-depth tutorial for both the artwork and the tools needed to make the pixel art.

  3. 10 Color Schemes You’ve (probably) Never Heard Of! - This is good for learning how color theory works.

  4. How to Draw & Stylize Human ANATOMY - 7 Tips on Body Proportions - Digital Art Tutorial (Medibang) - It’s a bit of a longer tutorial but it’s very beginner-friendly for learning the proportions of the human body.

How do you think your art style has changed or improved since you first started posting on Planet Minecraft?

I feel like I’ve improved in nearly every aspect of my drawings. Back then I used very mundane colors with odd-looking proportions but over time I began improving with each drawing. Instead of worrying if I use the right colors, proportions, and consistency, I feel very confident with my artwork.

What's next for you in terms of content? Are there any new blogs or secret pieces of art in the works?

My main priority as of now is to work on my graphic novel Gru’s Clues. It’s my favorite and most challenging project to work on because of the many skills I have to master. As for secrets, I honestly don’t have much to show off. The only thing I can talk about is that I’m planning on making more animations soon.

Is there an ETA for Chapter 2 of Gru's Clues? Can you give us any spoilers?

It was planned for November or December of this year but due to some private issues behind the scenes, I’ve decided to redo the entire book and start from the beginning again. As of now, I don’t have an estimated release date for Chapter 2. Nearly the entire cast will be replaced with a newer, much-improved art style with better storytelling, writing, and creativity.

I noticed your playlist of (awesome) piano songs. How long have you been playing? Do you play any other instruments?

I’ve exclusively been playing the piano for over six years!

Besides art, what other interesting hobbies do you have either online or in real life?

That’s funny. I don’t have a lot of hobbies. It’s either playing video games or drawing for most days. Occasionally I go hang out with my friends at the park and play football. Running for cross country is something I like to do when it’s a cold morning.

Have you taken a nap yet to accomplish one of the goals listed on your profile? Do you have any other goals in mind besides the ones listed?

Haha, I did take a nap to accomplish one goal! When I was working on my Ghostbusters Animation Remake in 2022, I felt stuck early on with the style I wanted to go for. After taking a quick nap, I had a fresh mind and felt ready to keep on working for a couple more hours of the day. One goal that wasn’t listed was to create more animations frequently. I love animation, and I want to be able to consistently post high-quality animations for seasonal events other than Halloween.

If you could suggest a change or improvement to Planet Minecraft itself, what would it be and how would it benefit the community?

Honestly, I don’t really know how to improve upon the site. To me, Planet Minecraft is the best Minecraft fan site by far with many features I never even considered using.

Is there anything else that you would like to share?

I just wanna say the key to being successful is to be consistent with what you love to do most. Trying something new is hard the first few tries, but if you keep being persistent and practice daily with the right guidance, you’ll be able to achieve your goals with better efficiency. If there’s any question you want me to answer, my PMs/DMs are always open! Thank you for letting me have the chance to be interviewed! I’m glad I can share part of who I am with everyone!
