    I've worked on many projects over the past few years, with many I'm very happy to have made. Here are a couple that I cherish most.

    Super PMC Fighters
    - A cool gallery of members featured in a Super Smash Bros.-styled banner, cultivating a stronger bond with the community.

    Gru's Clues
    - An unlikely team of detectives work together to solve a puzzling case. Someday, I'll finish the story!!

    Ghostbusters Animation Demo
    - A short Ghostbusters animation, with the twist being it mimics the style of an arcade game!


    Here are some plans/goals that I hope to accomplish in the upcoming months!

    - Reach 100 members on The Gruniverse Discord server.

    - Record myself performing Clair de Lune on the piano.

    - Complete Gru's Clues, a graphic novel.

    - Finish animating Ghostbusters Animation (2026).

    - Revive my YouTube account.

    - Become funny.

  • So... who am I?

    Hi! I'm ZappyGru! I'm an artist who has a strong interest in different mediums. You may know me for things such as my animations, cartoons, and even musical performances! I do all of those things because I love it, and I think that's something that everyone should do. Do what you love most. While I'm not the greatest with words, I do enjoy bringing a smile to other people's faces with my work. I hope that I've had a positive impact on you, whether that's direct or indirect, and if there are any issues that you may have, feel free to PM me!

    Yes! I do all of these things! I love exploring new styles and concepts for the love of the game, and I especially love learning from previous people who've mastered each thing. As for my personal favorite, I'd have to choose pixel art animation, as it challenges both my skills in pixel art, and animation (who could have thought lol). If you have anything you'd like to share to me regarding any art genre, I highly encourage it!!

      Hello! I wanted to update y'all on how I'm doing since I've been super in and out online. I've been very busy with my personal life which has greatly helped me in my productivity outside of making art. However, I try my best to squeeze some time into working on my drawings! I wanted to ask you a quick poll on how I'm doing with my character designs alongside another question on how y'all are doing overall. I love chatting and hope I can make your guys' day!

      For the artwork I'm referring to, I've recently updated a collection featuring my characters that I've been wanting to fix up for years now (yay)! Don't be shy to give your thoughts on them. I love all the supportive criticism I can get :D

      Thank you for your input! I actually didn't think too much about the clothing in relation to the theme of my project (which is a fault on my part 😅). However, with how my notes have been recently, I may shoot for a more silly approach compared to typical noir-styled stories. I found it very interesting to have a somewhat realistic approach with more wacky stuff, and I think it would work out great for how my plans are turning out. Things can change if needed, but only time will tell!

      Gru's facial expresions were loosely based off of cartoony images I pulled online which is something I'm very glad I went in that direction

      I found it very appealing to focus shapes on my characters' designs, so I went, "why not work with that?" Eventually, I made something that I was very pleased to see :)

      I Second the shape language 🔥

      My only very fine nitpick would be the clothing vs the story/world theme? They feel more like school/academic characters rather than recognizing immediately as detectives/from a mystery story, if that's what your going for.
      *If* you wanted to go that way, I would recommend looking at film noir or detective character designs (Including side characters that make up the respective "Worlds"!), and try to see what gives them "the vibe" of the theme, and see if you can incorporate aspects of that into your characters.

      But all that being said, recognition is based on association, and it is very easy to push too far and end up looking like every other character from that genre. The most important thing is to create what you enjoy, and think is truest to what you imagine.

      The Scooby doo team has absolutely nothing to indicate ghosts or monster hunting via the characters, but are still as accepted and famous as they are.
