Hey guys, I was just wondering what some of the opinions people had pertaining to this relatively new server listing method that planetminecraft has implemented.

Personally, as a server owner and a player, I don't like this new style as I feel that there are already tons of server lists where votes play a significant role in a server's ranking. The old method planetminecraft used in my opinion was much more beneficial to those new and small servers and a much more efficient way to get their names out into the public. I understand that the page for "Recently Updated Servers" remains imminent but the majority of the attention of the minecraft population has been directed to the Top List, benefiting the well developed and popular servers.

I was never a fan of voting lists because although they glorify the good servers and the ones that have worked hard to become popular, the other meager servers are left in the dust. What I liked about the previous method planetminecraft used was that it was unique. Unlike minecraft-server-list or minestatus where all you'd see is a server like Obsidiancraft or SuperEarth or ImDeity, planetminecraft was the place for the small and new servers to become known. I understand that they are amazing servers and didn't get there with sheer luck but I wonder how many people have actually looked beyond the tenth page in that list. People would say "If you have a good server and work hard, you can become number one" but this is nearly impossible without a starting point. I've encountered so many amazing servers but their one downfall is the play traffic which is extremely depressing.

The new server score implemented in the voting system for planetminecraft is unique but it doesn't seem to have much of an effect on the player's decision of choosing a server. I get the same amount of player traffic bumping my server when I have 0 server score and 100 server score.

This is simply my opinion on this topic and I'd like to hear the opinions of others and see things through different perspectives.
