Hi, Alacrite here.

Lately, I've been thinking about the Internet.
To me, it is like a whole other world, and my computer is a gateway into it. It feels like my own world.

Obviously, I have seen things like Youtubers, and people popular on PMC. I have to say, a career where you get to do what you love on the internet would be pretty awesome, and sounds inviting. There is a problem, however, with this internet age. It seems like the people who are popular and successful now chanced to live at just the right time to catch the wave of the internet revolution, and ride it out. Now, they have inspired many others to try to do the same, but it seems like none of those who try now really make it. Sort of like the smartphone market. I'd love it if I were able to make a living off of Youtube views, but that likely won't happen.

The internet scene is now crowded with people: Some are successful, like Youtubers, or founders of awesome websites, like PMC. Others just experience what is there. The third group is a gradient between the two. They are ones who "want", at some degree, to participate in the Internet world, but aren't at the top. These range from wannabes who put some lazy effort thinking that it will be easy, to those who work hard enough that they deserve to be at the top, just that they haven't had a lucky break.

Anyway, I would like to create more of a name for myself on the Internet. I have things that I am interested in that are potentially marketable, but I don't know if the Internet will accept them, or if they will be scoffed at like the mounds of terrible content put out by those not really willing to try. I don't mean that everyone is like this. As I said earlier, many people I have seen are really good at what they do, and truly deserve to succeed, but just need to get lucky.

Please, don't fill the comments with plugs for Youtube channels, or PMC profiles, or whatever else. Also, I am not asking for you to help make me famous, or really to be famous. I am wondering if you think that a life on the Internet is still worth a shot, or if our current time is still dominated by those who achieved initial success. I know eventually, they will fade out, like all people do, but will a new generation be able to take their place? or will the world have moved on from online entertainment.

So what do you think? Is it worth a shot? How soon do you think until the next generation?

Thanks for reading,
~Alacrite

Hey Alacrite :)

I think there is still a potential to be successful on the internet but the only way that you can find out if you would make it is to try, so give it a shot. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out but you never know who will become the next big youtuber, map creator, or just someone respected in the community. If you enjoy what you are doing then keep it up and don't be discouraged. It takes a lot of work and time to get to the place you want to be.
