(Rant) Let's Plays.

There may already be one or two of these, but i thought I'd also speak.

What i wanted to talk about tonight was the fact that i am seeing at least 4 topics being posted a day saying they want to make a Let's Play of Minecraft Survival. I am not talking about the people who want to do this for fun, and not popularity. That's fine. What i am talking about however is the people who go up and go: "Liek, omg gaise! I wanted 2 maek a lets play on miencraft and get popular and b liek the yogscast!". (They don't all talk like this, It's just an example.)

When these get posted, about 20 people go up and post up on there. 20% of the posts are people saying it's not going to go anywhere or it's spam. 75% of the posts on theses are applications. 5% are trolls. And really, this gets really repetitive. And usually, the way these things go, is the leader will just start recording when not all the people are on the server at the same time. And most of the time, these only end up being one or two episodes cut at bad times.

And i know, i was once part of one. Most of this was based of of my own experiences when i was a part of one.

I'm sorry, but you're not going to get popular in an instant. It takes buildup. I mean, the Yogscast didn't even start out as that. When they first started out they were doing WoW tutorials. And after a few years, they now have 1M+ suscribers, and they're really well known. They didn't do the videos to be popular, they did it to help people. Then later on they did it for other's entertainment. People nowadays do it only for the popularity and it usually ends up being sloppy.

For those of you who want to do something new and fresh, that's awesome. Not many people are going to watch a survival Let's Play, due to there already being many out there. Here's some tips for the few who want to have something good that could get some views.

1: Get a good, original idea. Don't steal from some else's mind. It's their idea, and they thought it up. You can do that too. Use the ol' noggin.

2: Get a good crew. Most of the time it's best to do stuff like this with people you know, and are your friends. The problem with getting people to help you off of the forums is the fact some people don't tell the truth. If you ask for building skills, they could say 9/10, when you would really say 5/10 to their building. (Not that i would rate anyone's building skills.) Same with maturity. And if you really have to get people from the forums, make sure the application is good. Don't ask for maturity or building skills, as said. Instead, ask about their experiences, and ask them to post pictures of things they've built. But sometimes even that's not good because they could post someone else's stuff. Make sure to take your time and be selective over your crew.

3: Make sure your server has good quality. Nobody would want to watch a lag-fest.

4: Make sure you have good recording software. It's kind of the same thing with number three. Don't ask me about what you should do for recording, I'm no expert at that.

5: Plan. Try to get everyone in a Skype call and plan out when you can all be on the server at the same time. It would be terrible for someone else if they were not included just because they had to attend something important, such as a birthday party or something.

6: Try to think up a good name for the channel, and the series. Same rules apply here as the first tip.

7: Do not. And i mean do NOT say things like: "Please like" or "Make us popular" or anything related. That's going to give people the idea you're just doing this to be popular and you'll lose it instead.

These are all the tips i can provide for now. This is also the end of my rant. I hope some of you actually consider anything here. I took my time for a reason.
