Hello!

Well friends, it's time for a new blog. This one is gonna be a longer one than the ones I've done before. Just before i start I'd like to list the people that helped me with this:

Jetra

SnowyLips

Why read this?
Well you don't have to. As a person in general and a minecraft member, I think respect is a big part of life and minecraft. So I hope you'll read my blog.

Well respect can be described and interpreted in many ways. The dictionary's interpretation is "The condition of being honored (esteemed, respected or well regarded)". Well there you have it the dictionary's thoughts on the term "respect". Let's see what some of our PlanetMinecraft friends think. First SnowyLips says

"
I think respect means a certain level of "admiration" of someone; whether it's for their skillset or personality or even what they've been through. You EARN other people's respect, you aren't born with it.
"

Then Jetra says

"Respect is looking to someone for guidance, always listening and obeying without going to extremes. It's asking questions and being asked them in return. A mutual bond between the teacher and student is what makes the best respect, even if neither see it as such."

By analyzing their thoughts on respect, we can come up with a basic understanding of respect.

To me, respect is the "Fear" and "obedience" to someone. That is unbreakable and personal. And shows that yes you do care for that person. Yes you trust them. Yes you believe them.

Respect is earned not given out!

In life we have to write our stories, respect is an important part to the story.

How this relates to MC

MC is a competitive game and full of people to meet. Like everyone else, we want to be the best. And we also meet those people that we don't like. Respect can help us when we lose or win, it helps us when we want to disobey and be a rebel. Respect can affect one's life in many ways.

Conclusion

We can't ignore respect and hate it. Learn how to embrace it and allow it to be part of you. You'll feel better and be a better person. Showing others that you can respect makes them want to respect you and respect others.

Thanks for reading!

I suggest adding a comma after the word respect, because I read it like "Respect what is, it?"

I disagree. Too many times the opinion that "respect is earned" is used as an excuse to treat people you don't know like dirt. Respect is actually DESERVED by everyone, and we should give it to everyone we meet, until they prove that they're not worthy of it, not the opposite.

Exactly. I was just about to post my disagreement as well when I read your post, Rag.

In response to the author, I think the statement that "respect is earned" is incorrect. The phrase "respect is earned" is often used by people who spend all day on their high-horse thinking people must be good enough to be respected by them. This is not pointed at anyone, just a general statement. I am aware that there are people who do not follow that generalization. Bottom line, all people should be respected from the get-go.

To me, respect means treating all people fairly and considering how you may affect others before you act. It means not using inappropriate language or making inappropriate jokes because you know there may be others who might be offended. Respect also means understanding that others may have different views that you, but that doesn't make them less of a person.

I've always thought of "respect" as being something higher than that, an admiration of sorts as Snowy said. While it's true that you should treat everyone with a basic level of human decency, the "respect must be earned" mantra simply means that one is not automatically infallible or worthy just because of their reputation or title. I've met plenty of moderators in servers and on websites who demand respect despite either being brand new at the job or having the community know they are incompetent. Though they get the benefit of the doubt and a chance to show what they are capable of, they have to prove their ability before people actually have a sense of pride for them. It's understandable where you're coming from though, as the mods on PMC get a lot of backlash from rulebreakers and whatnot.

Why is this on the pop reel, again? You wrote a short interview, and gave us the dictionary definition of respect.

It's on there because of people like yourself with no respect for others. Something does not have to be long, or complicated to become popular.
