Hello, I'm here to tell the PMC community about the importance of locking your account. Why? Because I had to learn the hard way. My other account (GlassDime) was hacked a while back. And guess what? I did not have the security of a locked account. So I want to make sure you guys have the benefit of never being hacked.
#1. People will change your password. This my seem like a futile attempt to steal your account. But for some people who are/were careless (that would be me), they may not remember the email they used to create the account.
#2.You may get off easy, and not have your password changed. But really, this may go undetected, and thats what makes it deadly! Hackers will ruin your reputation on some servers, so that you can never go on. Even worse, getting a Global Ban on an McBans server will make it so you may never go on many amazing servers ever.
#3. Remember your email, guys and gals! I forgot that I had used my brother's email when making my account. I was so blind to see it, I bought a new account. Please, for the sake of your wallet, don't forget your email!!!! (And if you have multiple emails, thats great. If your email is hacked as well, you can have redirects so you can change the password from there!)
So people. remember to have diversity in your passwords. Make sure they are long, and never to tell another living soul. And multiple passwords and different emails can come in handy if you are as much unfortunate no be hacked. Too many people get hacked in Minecraft, so lets make that number lower than ever!!! With the help of you guys, spread the word about Account Security, and make Minecraft a better place to play!
