The kind of server staff you shouldn't choose...
-Abusers
Abusers are players with more power than the default rank, but choose to abuse thier power...These can be staff, donators, or just other players. Most likely to be donators, in my opinion, since they paid for thier rank, not earnt it, although there's alot of bad chosen staff that do this aswell. I've seen alot of default players quit because of other players abusing thier powers... So this is definetly a no...
On a server I went on, almost all the staff abused. I was banned for not saying welcome back to a mod. A co-owner/admin kicked people that disagreed with him, or kicked them for the fun of it, including me, several times. He would sometimes even ban you, and this is a co-owner we're talking about...
I'm not trying to say they shouldn't use their powers for fun at ALL...this was consistant though.
-Younger people
I agree that you shouldn't judge someone by thier age strait away, but they most likely won't be responsible. You don't want a whiney 8 year old as staff on your server, do you? This is a 50/50 decision...depending on what you're like...you may not accept them as staff because of thier age, or you may accept them because of thier maturity...
Another server I went on, the owner of the server was mature and capable of running a server. He was 10. On the other hand there was a mod, who said he was 12, but acted like a 7 year old. A bad choice of staff for a good owner.
-In real life friends
-Although these people may be your in real life friends, they may not be trustworthy enough to be staff on your server. You could give them a chance, to see if they act approprietly on your server. I say this because, in real life, I can be quite immature and stupid, on servers too, but I don't abuse my powers or go over the top. But, if you don't give them a chance, it could be a hard decision between your friends or the enjoyment of the players on your server...but if your friend is mad at you for not giving them staff, that's not a very good friend. They should see things from your point of view and understand your decision.
-Griefers/trolls
I know you're thinking...anyone who gives a griefer staff is crazy, and you're right. I see on youtube all the time, young server owners, giving griefers and trollers op. I guess this is usually clueless younger kids being persuaded into giving someone staff, but a older server owner of a server I was on gave staff to a griefer/troll willingly...
The owners knew he was a griefer, he got staff, and then was banned for griefing the server. He shut down the server, then when it was sorted out, he logged in on his legit spare login, got ip banned, logged in again on a fake login...he begged me as a different username (so I had no idea it was him) for staff, of course I said no, then he admitted to it being him (bit stupid...) and got banned again. Repetedly joined and got banned until he gave up. I said to the other admin that kept banning every new user that joined (because he was joining on fake accounts) to stop, because that's just a little stupid. It could actually of been a new player.
Well...I hope that made sense...

Do you see what I mean? I've met so many people like this. Some people love them, but then some people hate them. They spam all the time, use caps all the time, and are just annoying all the time. They constantly break rules, but seem to get away with it, everywhere I go. They talk about people behind thier backs (in minecraft?! yes...) They also get extremely jealous and rage when the attentions not on them.
