Confused and frustrated, Steve raises his pick for one last blow, bringing it down with so much force that it shatters the ore, as well as the block below, revealing a hole into another tunnel complex.  Steve not only shattered the ore instead of mining it, but he also lost his balance and fell in, just as the monsters leapt at him, ramming into the wall on the other side.

Steve shakes his head and looks at his broken pick.  He pulls out a torch, lighting the area around him.  He heard a hiss of surprise.  Steve slowly turns his head to see a creeper right behind him.  Before it has a chance to hiss, he bolts down the tunnel.  The zombie and spider look at each other and find a way up Steve's path.

Steve keeps running until he reaches the edge of a ravine.  He hears the creeper behind him, panting heavily, and begins hissing.  Steve takes one more look down the ravine, glances at the creeper, then jumps into the pool of water below.  After landing, he pulled himself out.  Realizing he'd been here before, he found his way back home.  He threw his destroyed pick into his chest so he could repair it later, and sat down.  He sighed and began to relax.

That is until he heard the zombie and spider behind him.
