Okay. Here we go. Get a base skin. Pick any hair color you want, but be sure it can go 2 shades darker and 1 shade lighter.

Once you have the two darker shades and 1 lighter shade, your HAIR palette should look like this, with only 4 colors. Make your palette the way you like it, with your shifting. Ignore all of the other palettes they have nothing to do with the hair shading, The top palette is the hair palette.

Now go to one of the SIDES (Not top, bottom, or face). Take the DARKEST shade and make two outlines.

Then take the second darkest shade and shade two lines on the outside of the darker lines, like this:

The next color you are using is the base color for the hair, so just don't do anything and skip to the lightest shade. Shade the two middle rows like so.

Once you have done that, take your darkest color, and darken it a bit. Plop down that color so you don't lose it. Once you have done that, turn the transparency down to somewhere around 50. Next you want to shade every OTHER column with this transparent color, and if that sounds confusing, it will look like this:

Now just shade the other two sides like that.

For the top of the hair, take your darkest shade and color it. Then, take the next shade and make some marks like so:

Take the next shade after that and color the insides of the lines, like this:

Now take the lightest shade and put it where it feels right.

Now for the bottom of the head, do the same shading as the sides of the head, but act like that little bit of skin isn't there. But do not shade over that skin xD (Ignore little mistakes, because in order to take a screenshot, sometimes my mouse would have to be over the skin like that with my color :I)

Do the same for the front of the face. Also, for the hair on the torso and the 3D hair, once again make the pattern and act like it is the side of the head. Keep repeating the pattern until it fits well.
