there is afew steps...
STEP 1
make sure your home is underground (in cliff/ravine) cuz it gets you more room and resources adn you become less obious
STEP 2
make sure the entry area and basic sort of bit (a basic bedroom+multi purpose room) simple no extremely rare stuff liek diamodn and put abit of boring things like dirt and stuff in chests
STEP 3
make your fancy rooms just around with lower floors (but make sure the floor to the entry room is 5 thick) and then you smelt cobblestone and fill the entries with just smoothstone/sticky piston entry redstone circuit with smoothstone
STEP 4 - If In Ravine
check for anything jetting out of ravine and destroy it and then make hidden steps downwards into your home/entry to home...raviens are great for ore minign by the way so get rid of the ore and replace it with smoothstone
STEP 4 - If In Cliff/Cave
clear mobs from caves and make sure entry is small...with minimal lighting...if greifers arent so much a problem or you have a expanse far from people then you might take the risk of adding a big window along cliff/caves/hill remeber set if back 2 blocks with sticky pistons so at the flick of a switch it looks like a normal bit of cliff again

And there you have it the way to be GREIFER FREE and have a cool home still (it also works becuase the bigger the home the more stuff you mine meaning the more materials you have) it also works for multi layer smoothstoning where you have each room having smoothstone in entry so if 1 room is found they have to find the labyrinth to the diamonds next...
