Hello...Today im here to talk about how to shade skins...Even 'PRO' skinners will make afew mistakes that this tutorial will highlight,First i would like to apologise for the blog missing pictures,Second im by far not the BEST skinner but i know some tricks which will help the worst skinners become GOOD...
  1. So the first thing to highlight...Shading Techniques,Transparent pencil where you use a partically transparent version of the colour always making sure you dont shade BEFORE this in any way...you select the colour and on the side add a strip of 5 across with a mildly dark and lighter and a strong darker or lighter shade,or using 2 strips with varying shades...There is also classic shading by changing hue each time used for HEADS in this tutorial (unless its extremely complex head)
  2. ONLY use strong dark shades on armpits...bottom of body or bottom of hands and feat and only use strong light shades for the highlights such as abit of shine on the hair...Most PRO skinners will use the extreme shades in more places...that makes the skin look un-natural becuase its extreme shadow and light which is BAD BAD BAD!
  3. Always where you have someone ontop of another thing add shading so under shorts, crown, hat, under hair ext.
  4. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT possibly less shading skins but still you always NEED part of the hair to touch bottom of head area on back and to have some hair on front even if its wearing a hat...bold skins are hard to make look right with shading
  5. With skins such as a slime type person you use much less shading becuase of there fake transpareny...easier to do in a greyish colour (LOW SATURATION)
  6. When choosing shades of colours always on yellow dont lower saturation to much same with pale colours...with blue its able to do it more so about a change of 10 for blue...green is abit although can vary...Cyan or Teal is not much or it goes nasty....red is a medium value...the rest isnt to key...
  7. MAKE SURE to give a good theme behind your skin then shading oddly becomes easier becuase its easier to imagine where they would be...so a NETHER skin you would put transparent pencil technique vagely more to a red colour as aether would be paler thanks to higher light level and whiter light...cave would be dark ext.
  8. you should attempt to try different shading techniques
  9. Here is more abit of friendly advise to shading...save after all that done ^ then if not using a WEB skin program switch on noise...put pencil to make size...set noise to 1 or 0.9 depending what your program goes to then test it on the skin and it will normally look good with the noise applyed...if you ask ANY OTHER skinner they will say noise is bad but look at 1 of my more recent skins such as Mr Britian and it uses noise yet is shaded well...ive not yet published a skin using transparent pencil becuase my latest 1 is abit more complicated and is actually a request...stay tuned for more :D
