Storycraft, A server with a story.. And a long story it has!

I am modifiedbuilder, I play on Storycraft since Januari 26th, 2015 and I am still an active player on the server and forums. I am currently one of the first few RealmWalkers on the server. Truth to be told, I wrote this review as a quest entry.

The server runs on Spigot 1.8.3 and thus is compatible with all 1.8 versions. The server has a couple of plugins, and the major ones are:

Groupmanager 2.0
WorldEdit 6.0
HawkEye 1.6.0
WorldGuard 6.0.0-beta-05.1569
Essentials Pre2.14.1.3
ChestShop 3.8.12

The server has a white-list, and people that want to join have to send a white-list application that gets evaluated by the server owner himself (Brekkil)
The server works with a ranking system where you as player can earn your rank with quest points (also referred as QP) achievable by doing quests, building, adventuring and being active on the forums (which is fairly new, only a couple of weeks old actually). As player you have access to commands like /tpa and 1 /home (/home bed not included).
The current ranks are: Seeker (0 qp), RealmWalker (250 qp), Storyteller (750 qp), Lorekeeper (1000 qp) and Warden (1500 qp).
The current staff ranks are: Guide, GreyWarden, EternalGuide (close to admin), and Minstrel (Brekkil, server owner)
As you gain more QP you gain a new rank with new commands. The best command you will get as RealmWalker is, of course, /hat! (just kidding, you get 2 additional homes, which is pretty awesome). There are still quests added every so often. All of them are on the forums, at forums → ranks and quests → quest zone, or if it's a main storyline quest, on the home page.

Since August 8th, the economy of StoryCraft has changed dramatically. The ChestShop plugin was added, and the economy changed from fully adminshop (done via forums) to fully playershop, where you sell diamonds to an adminshop chest at spawn to get your first little bit of money.

The staff on StoryCraft is very loyal to the server, and helps the players as much as they can. They are talkative people (some may be a little bit weird..) and are happy to have a chat.

The community, on the forums as well on the server, is very talkative, and have a very firm bond. Most are always fair and are happy to help each other out at any given time.

The stories on the forums are creative and fun to read. Players can also post their stories about themselves, their buildings and their experiences on the forums, and this is happily supported (but not mandatory).

The economy on StoryCraft is very new, and not many players aer too fond of it. there are few buyers and sellers, prices for items are a little funky, few players are eager to sell their diamonds and there is no other way to get currency at the moment. Hopefully this is just a slow starter and the economy starts to grow soon.

Big, boring structures are not very happily accepted by the server owner and staff. If the server owner realy doesn't like your building there is a chance you will have to take it down, or the staff may even take it down while you're away for too long.. This rarely happens, but it's always a good thing to ask for advice if you're building big structures.

The rules around farms is very strict to keep server lag as low as possible. For instance, AFK farming is frowned upon, big farms that may cause lag are taken down and you're not allowed to build redstone clocks. This means that you have to keep your farms small and you'll have to do most by hand.

All in all, I rate this server 8/10. It's a shame the economy is not as solid as intended (yet), but it's very fun to be a part of the community, and adding your story to the huge storyline of StoryCraft!
