STEP ONE
Go and download Minecraft Forge. I recommened getting 1.7.10 as that's what most mods are these days and install it.
STEP TWO
Download a mod.
STEP THREE
Copy and paste it into your "mods" folder.
STEP FOUR
Open up Minecraft launcher and click on the Forge profile.
