Stupid Spam (A Rant)

Well, this is my first rant, so here we go, my favorite server may get shut down for a month, and it's all because some stupid spam bots. While I was playing on the server, I saw tons of people simutaniously joining. I didn't know they were spam bots, so I kept on playing. When they started spamming, there was nothing I could do, while a guide tried to kick some of them, but in vain. It didn't do much to the server, but the next time they visited, they spam joined my faction, because I stood up to the spammer. The final spam ruined the server, and ruined the plugin. The real question is why spam? Are they immature, do they get paid?
