Minecraft. One of today's biggest and best indie games around. Are you new? Old? Or just interested in how to survive once more? Well here you can be taught the way of surviving Minecraft.
Just quickly, to survive you are going to need to complete the following:
First things first. I am going to go through each stage you need to pass through to survive the first night (in minecraft).
Now, first of all. We are going to need to make sure you know the controls. So here they are:
W: Move Foward (Hint: Double tap the 'W' key to sprint)
A: Move Left
S: Move backwards
D: Move Right
SHIFT: Sneak (Hint: Hides you from mobs and allows you to stay on a layer of blocks without falling)
SPACE (BAR): Jump (Hint: When in creative double tap this to fly)
E: Opens your inventory
Q: Drops a single block/item of what you are currently holding
1-9: Accesses the items on your hotbar from left to right chronologically (Hint: Use your scroll wheel to do the same)
Left MB (Mouse Button): Break blocks or use tool (Hint: Hold down the tool to ACTUALLY break the block/item)
Right MB (Mouse Button): Place a block (Hint: Press this once, also when in battle use this as a block, it makes you loose 1health (half a heart) less)
EXTRAS
Now, we are going to open minecraft. Now, I am expecting you start by playing singleplayer. So, hit the
button.
Now with the gui you are going to want to hit the
button.
Follow those steps and your new world will be generated.
Step three. Here, we begin surviving. The first thing you are going to want to do is cut down some wood. Get about 32, just to be sure.
Now, press the 'e' key. This should appear:
Now, here you are going to go into the 'Crafting' GUI to the right of your skin.
Put one log in it like so:
Now, click on the wooden planks with the number four. It will be 'connected' to you mouse until you put it down somewhere. You can do this as many times as you like but for now, just do it once. With your wooden planks put on of each into the slots of your crafting GUI like so:
This is the crafting Table/Bench. This is your main tool to start with. Now, put that down next to your logs by left clicking. Press the number 2 or scroll your mouse wheel and then place it down.
Now, make some more wooden planks (about 50-64).
This is where we make our first tools. To start, right click on your workbench. It brings up a new GUI like so:
Now, the most important thing to remember now, is unless you are a long way from home and don't need a workbench don't build one.
Now, get two wooden planks and put them in an 'l' styled line like so:
These are sticks. Now, to make your first tool put the sticks in the same way as you put the planks to make the sticks. Then put three wood in a '-' styled line on the top. It should look like this:
This is your first (and most important) tool. The pickaxe! Now, this is the end of Step IV.
Making a home is important. Now, for your next stage you should build a basic shelter, either find a small cliff entrance, dig a little cave or build a quick house. It can look simple just sort of like the following:

Now. That was simple. The final step is to make a furnace, this is the last necessary part which I shall tell you about.
Here is the furnace. The cooking object. To make it, we need cobble. You get cobble by mining stone. Mine stone by going down in a staircase path until you reach stone, keep digging until you have about 10-15. Now, go back to your crafting table and make a border of cobble like so:
Now, this is a furnace. Place it inside your shelter. Also break your workbench and bring it inside your shelter too.
Once that is done right click on your furnace. It should come up with another new GUI like this:
Now, this GUI is for cooking or smelting. In the bottom slot is your fuel.
As for the top, that is what you want to smelt. For now, we shall smelt logs. That makes charcoal. Put it in, it takes 10 seconds to cook and then it comes out like so:
These are what you will need to make, but don't have to straight away.

STEPS

- make some sticks (two wooden planks on top)
- Make a pickaxe (two sticks on top of each other and then three wooden planks on the top row (this is in the new crafting table gui))
- Build a house from the wood
- Kill sheep
- Make a bed with three wooden planks on one row and then three wool on the row above.
- Mine out some stone and coal.
- Make torches (a stick with one coal on top)
- Sleep the night
The Stages
