I know many people have done this but this is what I do!
5 BASIC WAYS!
1. Change Graphics Settings to FAST!
2. Change Render Distance to NORMAL, SHORT or TINY!
3. Change Advanced OpenGL to ON!
4. Turn Clouds OFF!
5. Turn Smooth Lighting OFF!
If none of the above helped (Much), carry on reading.
1. Download the Optifine Mod. It adds more graphical settings, and also includes HD Texture Pack Support.
2. Once installed, you will notice there are more options on the video settings. Change some of the settings to what your computer needs and can handle.

If none of the above helped (Much), carry on ready.
1. Download Game Booster. This automaticly closes programmes that are running, and not needed.
2. Once downloaded. Press BOOST and it will start.

1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE all at once, task manager will open up. If you have Windows 7, the presseces will automaticlly come up. find javaw.exe (Minecraft needs to be running!), right click, and set priority to either HIGH or REALTIME (Realtime only works if you PC can handle it.) That will make mineraft run at atleast 10-30FPs better!
