Sorry for being so inactive, I have my end of year exams at the moment. I have already done my English exam and my teacher told me I'm top of the class, woo. The exam was out of 80 and all I know is that I have achieved over 70, when the majority of my class have at least gotten over 60 (in top set). Such nerd, much wow. I thought I failed the reading section, since I never do well with 'to what extent do you agree' etc. Anywho, enjoy!

She pushed herself through the streets, a gaping wound in her stomach. The lamplights flickered weakly, their dim lights cascading over the girl's staggering body. Her light brown hair was drenched in blood, which was caused from the neverending bleeding pain that came from her belly. Around her was identical, middle-class houses that were dotted with the occasional flowers. All the curtains were draped closed and no one saw the half-dead human that limped down the pavement. Eventually, the girl came to a swaying stop outside a house, which was presumably her home. All she could see was a bizarre darkness, which was streaked with white, red and green. Then the darkness consumed her entirely.
-
The girl opened her eyes, and a blurred vision showed a woman, her face creased with worry, calling her name. The room she was in was very light and white, and she was dressed in a nightgown with bandages. It must've been a hospital. Why was she in a hospital? The question wanted to be spilled from her lips, but her eyes were already shut.
-
Lana bolted upright, blinking quickly. Glancing around her, she saw she was in what looked like a high-class park. But a peculiar thing was, the ground was not made up of heavily mowed grass, but instead white puffs of what was cloud. Was she on drugs of some sort? Lana pushed herself up from a bench she'd been sprawled on and made her way (what she hoped) to the exit of the park. Shiny metal gates flaunted themselves in the bright sunlight and they seemed to be bolted shut, but Lana couldn't give up. As she approached the gates, she gave it a heave; much to her surprise, the gates opened with a flourish. As she focused on her surroundings, her jaw went slack with shock. Before her was a gleaming city, all white, and at the very end was an elegant palace, which was so large it spread across the horizon. People bustled about, all dressed in light, positive clothes, beams on their beautiful faces. Lana glanced down at her own clothes, and saw that she was dressed in dirty blue jeans and a grey shirt that had a dark red stain on it. Jam? She hurriedly meandered towards the city, her gaze on the palace. Who lived there? As she continued to question herself, a kind-looking woman made her way over to Lana.

"Are you lost, dear?" she asked sweetly, golden curls framing her heart-shaped face. Her light blue eyes sparkled with a surprising warmth and she placed a slender hand on Lana's shoulder.

"I-I'm not quite sure where I am," Lana stuttered. "Is there anyone here I can see? I must go back home, my parents must be very worried."

The woman let out a giggle, before protruding her finger towards the palace. "Since you're new here, you need to visit the God. He is the leader of us people. I can take you there, but I am unable to enter the palace." She smiled gently, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. "I am already a citizen."

Lana didn't really understand what the woman had said, but she followed her anyway. Throughout the city, random people would greet her politely, genuine grins on their faces. There was a pleasant smell floating in the air, a sweet scent that Lana liked. It was better than her polluted city back home. Finally, the two arrived at the palace gates. Several guards stood firmly, their guns raised, but once seeing Lana, the gates were opened. She was lead inside by a few guards, missing the evil grin that darkened the other woman's features.
-
A beautiful man sat on a golden throne, his hair a mixture of all natural colours, his skin a slideshow of all the races. Lana presumed this was the 'God' that the woman had been speaking about. He smiled gently down at her, holding out a hand.

"Dear Lana, I have been waiting for you. Have you finally decided to become one of us?" His voice was deep, but also high. It was a lovely synchronisation, harmious. Lana bowed her head silently, before contemplating his words.

"But I need to go back home. What about my parents?" she asked, her confidence suddenly at the top. With this man, she felt everything happy. He had an aura that made Lana want - no, need, to stay.

"Your parents will know, and soon they may join you. My city will help you. Every second, every minute, someone new joins this city. We are getting larger and larger. Only the bad people are not allowed here, those who have committed the worse of sins. They," he frowned slightly, "are sent to the lowly pits, where their price is paid."

Lana stared at the man's encouraging hand. If she took it, he'd have her soul forever. But this place was so much better than the world back home, where she was bullied and critisized, where society labelled her an outcast.

She grabbed his hand.
- - -
Mrs. Stone stared down at her daughter, Lana. The girl was snoring softly, her face stained with tiny flecks of dry blood. Whoever had done this, Mrs. Stone vowed, would pay. Whoever had put her child into hospital and nearly killed her, would pay the price. Her eyes slid over to where the heart monitor stood, a continuous bleep that filled the room. As the woman squinted at it, it seemed to get smaller and smaller.

The heart monitor went dead.

Oh, this is one of the best stories written on the best topic, oh yes yes yes! It depicts a simple concept, described in the smallest details which come together like puzzle pieces, making the story whole. You never gave any direct details, but I knew what you were talking about the whole time. In conclusion, congratulations, here's the Story of the Year Award.

Your stories are really amazing; I love how well-developed the characters are, and the details are beautiful. It all helps the story come to life in its own unique way. You've actually inspired me to maybe start writing again. :o
