Chapter 2-Tresspassers

Devan and Vince were playing cards when Jason and Tristan walked up. "We caught some 2 trespassers stealing food from the warehouse",Jason responded."What they steal?",Vince said grinning his infamous smile. "Just a bit of meat and bread" "How did they even get in?",Devan asked curiously. "They found one of the mine entrances" "Hmm wonder how no miners saw them" "Actually a miner did but they knocked him out before he was able to warn the others" "So what is the council sentencing them to?" "The council says they each will get a finger cut off for stealing and they will spend 3 days in the jail for assaulting a miner" "People are getting desperate I say its time we upgraded security",Vince said as he checked his cards. "Well we could block off the entrances to the North mines if the council didn't complain about the valuable resources there" "Well they do have a point we need the supplies",Tristan interrupted. "But what if the thieves come in larger numbers then what could we do?" "Well we could always move some guards over there to patrol but I don't think a horde of theives is going to come out of thin air" "What about last January with that cult thing!" "That was different anyways don't bring that up! Remember we didn't see most of it...."

Tristan and Jason ate their lunch as they sat by the old mill waiting for the others."They should be here any minute now",Jason guessed by the position of the Sun. Tristan saw several cloaked figures coming over the hill. "Look the others are here!",He said as he waved to the cloaked figures. Then suddenly he saw the purple star on one of the men's cloaks. "They're back but I thought they were wiped out in the cave in!?" "Me and the council knew they weren't all gone.",Jason said notching a fire arrow "Why didn't you warn us?",Tristan said pulling out his sword. "Because that was only a small fraction that attacked us during last Winter......
