Prologue
The air runs cold on my face, my coat waving in the wind;
I hear the wood groan under the weight of my boot.
The mansion sticks out like a sore thumb in the deep, moist forest. It is separated from humanity.

Where am I? How did I get here? Whats going on?

Story
James Patter was an apprentice blacksmith. He lived in the small rural community of Blockcliffe. The town only had 10 or so buildings, mostly people's houses but also the blacksmiths hut, where James and his dad Robert lived, the local church and the library that was owned my Mr Smith. James went to school in a luxury school in nearby Ednerton. 13 yr old James was constantly bored of his predictable life. He was always in search of adventure, a 'explorer' in his dad's words. His mum had died when James was only 2, so he could not remember anything about her.

Two more times tragedy struck. The first was when James's grandpa died after a long battle with lung cancer. Just 3 weeks later, the already mourning James lost his father to a zombie siege in Brockcliffe. James was now the only one in his direct family. He was now legally under custody of his Aunt, Sarah. Sarah was a bad-tempered unmarried woman who lived in the big city of Westhaven.

It was a long trip to Westhaven, nearly 2 hours. James had taken the coach, as Sarah was at a wedding. His ears perked up when he heard a screeching halfway into the trip. All of a sudden, glass was broken and metal bent as the bus slammed into a ditch... then a tree... then it was on its side. James was shaken and confused; he was angry and he was sad; he was lost in a sea of emotion. He stood up and realized that he was badly bleeding in multiple locations, although that was the least of his concerns. He pulled the emergency hatch and went outside...

No one else was outside. It seemed that James was the only one that survived. He quickly dismissed his pain and soldiered on. He went in the direction he guessed was going towards Westhaven. Despite this, he quickly got lost in the deep woods. It was 2 hours since the bus had crashed now. Night was falling, and James was now running to avoid any mobs. In the distance he saw a large manmade structure. Was it a house? A hangar? a city? he couldn't tell. The moon now fell and the forest was cast in a mysterious fog.

As James approached the building, he realized that it was a mansion. He didn't find it odd that someone would reside such a building, but decided that no one would refuse to help someone who's lost, let alone a 13 yr old. But why weren't the lights on? It was only 8:09 PM, surely they should be awake...

James knocked on the door. No answer. He knocked again. Still, no answer. He knocked once more time, harder this time. But there was still no answer. The door, oddly, was unlocked. He decided that it wouldn't hurt to go inside. The building was in a very dilapidated state. He was growing suspicious that no one lived there.

The stairs creaked under his feet. He heard a distant groaning. More creaking. Wait, he hadn't moved then... He thought he was simply thinking stuff up. He chose one of the many, many rooms and went to bed.

He jolted awake. It was 3 in the morning. What would make a noise like that? Groan... Groan He heard it again. The only time he heard a noise like that was...the zombie siege... He grabbed his wooden sword and boarded the doors up.
The zombies broke down the door. He had no choice to fight; but he had a lack of skill. That didn't mean he had a lack of wits, however, so in the limited time he had he tied up his duvet covers and through them through the window. He closed his eyes and jumped...

I made this quickly and decided to do something different for a change. Normally, I only do projects.
