In this world magic exists but only certain people have the ability to use it. The ones everyone knows are the time council, people who have harnessed the power of time magic and stored it in a giant hourglass. This creation has given them the power to control how the world works, if they want they could speed up or slow down the time around the world, though this is done it is not very often. Also to control the worlds populace they have taken everyone's time and stored them in separate hourglasses. Now they control your life speed, if you anger them then you could die the very next day or minute depending on what they do, or they can do the reverse make it so that you live for a very long time and witness everyone you love die. Some have grown tired of this threat and a small group have gone and stolen the hourglass, this its' self is an amazing feat but now they have another problem. They know the secret of the hourglass, in it is a young girl and within her is time, pure time. She is what controls it without even realizing, by trapping her in the hourglass they could control the flow of time from her although it cause her immense pain, the power the council received was enough for them to overlook this and now their secret is out they cannot allow these rebels to live. The council have to hunt down the thieves as they took their own hourglasses with them as they went, a smart idea but has also annoyed the council even more, the thieves now have no idea what to do, they can keep running but now with this girl in an hourglass they've no idea what to do with her. Their journey will be long and difficult.
Varsak groaned as he pulled the cart with the hourglass on it, he was however the only one able to move it. Varsak is a dragonling, humanoid dragon. His scales were sapphire, he wore silver armour trimmed with black. On his back was a large axe, he had a long tail and was very muscular.
"Damn it, why did I sign for this. I was never told I would be pulling a cart with a heavy magic hourglass and a girl in it." He growled
"Varsak don't complain we all did this to break the control the time council have on us." Drant said, Drant was a thief by nature. He had short black hair and gold eyes, he wore a black shirt with a leather curiass covering it, his trousers were blue shorts. He had a bow on his back along with a quiver of arrows, his belt held many small daggers and one larger one. He was hired into the group to break into the councils' citadel and get everyone inside quickly and quietly. Varsak had been there as muscle should they be caught, the other members were; Lalien an elf mage, she had long white hair and eyes, she wore a green dress and leggings, she wore no shoes as she was a nature mage, the next was Jarken a human like Drant and his brother but a warrior not a thief, he wore a minimal amount of armour as he had to keep up with Drant, he chest piece was dull iron and lacked shoulder guards, his trousers were black and over them he wore bits of iron greaves, his hair was black but longer and his eyes blue. Jarken was there to assist Drant and fight if needed, Lalien was to stop anyone from getting to them should they be caught.
Lalien was sat on top of the hourglass keeping a look out and an eye on the girl who slept inside. It had only been a few days since the heist and the group had gotten far away from the city. The girl shifted in her slumber and caused some of the sand inside to move, she had short purple hair, her eyes from what they had seen shifted between numerous colours, she wore a white dress with a brown over coat, white leggings and and brown boots.
"Drant, what will we do now, we can't really keep going while trying to hide this hourglass and the girl, what do we do for her?" Lalien asked. Lalien was the second oldest at about 60 years old although she looked merely 17. Lalien looked at the smaller hourglass she held, her time flowed slowly as she was an elf not even a quarter of the sand had run through, she looked to the rest of the group; Varsak was grumbling under his breath, Drant was further ahead but close enough to hear the group and Jarken was to the side.
"We will set up camp soon and try to talk to her, maybe she can help us out." Drant yelled back. A few hours later and much complaining from Varsak as they had to go over rough terrain, the group reached a clearing and set about making camp, Lalien was creating walls around the site from vines with magic, she had also created a few floating balls of light so everyone else could see as she could, Drant had gone off to find something to hunt, Jarken was helping Varsak move the hourglass and some stumps and rocks around for seats.
Lalien had finished her task and went to sit near the camp centre, she used magic to create a soft patch of grass for her to sit. Varsak sat on one of the rocks and Jarken on a stump, they were silent. After a few moments there was a noise and they saw Drant climbing over the vine wall with a deer tied to his back, he jumped down and slung the deer down. Drant set about preparing it while Jarken made a fire, Lalien went over to the hourglass as she saw the girl shift and begin to sit up, as the girl did she rubbed her eyes and stretched as well as she could.
"Hey there, we haven't had much time to talk, I am Lalien." Lalien told her, The girl blinked a few times and smiled.
"Nice to meet ya, my names Tali." She replied, Lalien returned the smile and began talking with the girl, she stayed away from some questions but went for the simple ones of how to get food to her, the girl explained as much as she could and informed Lalien that she need not eat due the time magic within her.
Lalien and Tali kept talking while the guys argued among themselves, from what Lalien heard it was about what to do next. She sighed, "This is something we need to decide, we cannot keep going as we have to avoid towns. If we could get Tali out then we have access to more areas but what of the time magic sealed within the hourglass." Lalien thought. Lalien kept conversing with Tali while listening to the guys.
"We must get her back!" Yelled a voice, the council hall was in uproar. The twelve Time mages were sat in their chairs listening to the lower ranked members who knew of the girl. The centre chair held the leader with the ones either side of him being his two most trusted members with subsequent ranks following on either side. The members kept arguing and shouting to one another, it had been mere hours since the thieves had gotten inside without setting off any seal or alerting a guard. The Council members robes blew in the slight wind and the leader sighed and slammed the base of his staff into the ground, giving off a large noise and sending a shock-wave across the floor to attract attention to him. He stood and walked forward to the edge of the platform the chairs were on, he pulled his hood back. He had medium length black hair, purple eyes, under his robe he wore a silk shirt, wool trousers and leather boots.
"Listen here and be silent, your noise is causing me a headache. The thieves obviously knew their plan well and had watched us for some time before acting. What we need to do is calm down and think this through, if we can find their entrance point then we can follow their path." He said in a commanding tone. Another voice piped up that said to just use their hourglasses to kill them now, he smiled again and informed the group that they had also made off with them as well.
"Mi'lord Varsen! I have a report from a farmer saying he saw a cart pulled by a dragonling, it had something of great weight and size within. I am afraid he's no idea what it was at it was covered." A soldier said as he entered the room.
