Welcome to today's tutorial
First off u will need either

7 zip
And a good photo editing program like paint.net
Now go to start then type %appdata%
there should be a folder called roaming open that then at the top should be a folder called .minecraft ,open that then open the folder bin.Inside should be a jar file called

you guessed it minecraft. copy that jar file to your desktop or wherever. then extract it with either winrar or 7 zip. once its finished there should be at least a 1000 files
most of which should be class files. Delete all of them.You should be left with some folders and about five other lose file's. Now here come the editing, to edit the terrain
you obviously edit the lose file called terrain.to edit what the items look like,go to gui
then open the image with your editing program. Now to get it so your texture pack is usable,highlight everything,right click then press add archive make it a zip file and just change the name to what you want. If you have any problems please pm me.
