Lesson - 1 - I want staff!
First off why I am doing this blog is because I want many people to learn from what I have seen from playing and owning a server on Minecraft and other games. The things I have learned may help you eventually let you climb the server rank tower which is usually huge and gutsy to get on and not very well pleasing once you start climbing but eventually you can gain what you are wanting with a few months of work or maybe even a hour.
From when I first came onto a server and saw what an admin can do and the power he controls if I was a gamer in his position I came upon a craving for becoming a staff member. But after countless hours of playing trying to get myself active in the community I realized something. Becoming a staff member is almost impossible unless you know the owner of the server. Which in my opinion sucks so I want to give you a small hint of advice before you pick a server that you look for a server with an owner that is active on the server, cares about his players, does regular staff applications, and just is an all around nice guy. If you can't find that then good luck becoming a staff member.
Anyways down to the specifics, to become a staff member the real key in my opinion is to be as active as you can in the community and on the server from the forum to playing the game. I have had many staff who I find are really great people it's just they don't want to be active on a server for more than maybe 30 mins every other day which stinks for the owner but is nice for them. If you really want the owner to see you then just be active we are not asking for a perfect player we are looking for someone who has dedicated themselves to our server.
Key point number two, being a staff isn't what most people think it is us server owners work are tails off usually (not the small servers that are ran by 6th graders but the big servers ran by usually 20 year olds) Owners expect you to know your stuff if you are a staff member or are wanting to be one. This means you need to read up on the server plugins which really only consists of maybe 3 of them: LogBlock, Worldedit and Essentials if the server isn't running those plugins for there staff then I don't know what they are doing. Just be knowledgeable.
Key point number three, being active may be a very important factor but just being active isn't always enough being mature is one of the biggest keys to becoming a staff member owners don't want a staff consisting of little kids who think its funny to say "I HAVE A PENIS!!!!" via server chat or kids who think they are better than everyone else cause they have mod or admin... I mean grow up please. I'm not saying all kids are like that but most are. Also DON'T ask for staff it greatly decreases your chance of ever becoming staff server owners are not looking for people who want a reward for there time we are looking for people who love our server and are dedicated to keeping it alive.
Key point number four, don't be a suck up such as John1616: "OverSizedRabbit your the best Owner in the world, I love your server so much!" Rabbit: I really like that you love me but sadly your chances of becoming staff haven't increased any.... What are you going to do once you get staff? cause I don't see you doing anything on the server except chatting with me about me..." Just don't be a suck up that's all I ask.
Key point number five, become friends with as many people as you can when you first join but mostly people who are in the same position as you wanting to become big on the server and wanting staff as much as you because later having other staff as friends helps a lot with many things.
Key point number six (last point). Be yourself and have fun, being a staff member isn't everything playing the game and enjoying the server you love is the main thing find a server you can spend countless hours on and not caring about staff because really that's how you get staff not caring to get it lol sounds funny but I think its true. "Good things come to those whom wait"
If you like this blog please diamond I am hoping in about 2 weeks I'll make another blog on when you are a moderator and how to become better one. Will probably be a tutorial on logblock and essentials but yeah...
It was fun making this blog (:
