Hello everyone, it's 3475.
So one thing that really bugs me is people constantly asking for diamonds, favorites, subscriptions, etc.
Sure, people want quick fame as Zemor had said and they're just greedy xp-hogs, and that's why people ask about them mainly. That's because they don't understand what a diamond truly means on a post.

What does a diamond truly mean?
A diamond in anyone's point of view is if someone likes it. In other's it just means if they get enough quickly they'll get on the homepage. But to me what a diamond really means is that someone has actually looked at the content, possibly downloaded it, and really liked what they saw. Not just a simple thing such as, "Oh look! _Disco made another map! I'm going to go diamond it because he's so high level!" (By the way disco, congrats on level 100+) It's more of, "Hey, _CandyCane_ made a new skin! I'll go check it out!" Then look at it, and finally think, "That's a great skin there. I think it should deserve a diamond." and to me that's the entire process on what a diamond given really means.
Diamonds do not mean and should never be given because:
  • A step closer to the homepage. (Sure, it may want to look at that, but it just means that somebody likes your work)
  • Something given just so they can receive one in return.
  • They want something to happen back. (I had someone ask me for a diamond to diamond, and I rejected and still went and did it because they wanted them back)
  • You saw that the person's rank is much higher than yours so you give it before even seeing the content.

So that's why a diamond shouldn't mean nor be given in that way. Also an example: I saw a texture pack with 26 (That's right, 26 diamonds) and the texture pack wasn't even released. It's just really odd to see that. And that's because the person either
A. Previously had it up. B. Made false accounts, or C. KEPT ASKING FOR THEM. I'm leading towards C.

What do favorites really mean?
Favorites are when people are really satisfied with the work that someone else has put in to make such a project. Again it is not a symbol of high rank, it just means that people have really loved the project that somebody made.
It should be given when the person is highly satisfied with the work that they have done. In example, "Wow! Thanks (randomuser) for remodeling my house in my world! I love it and I will use it almost every time!" A bad situation would be, "Hmm, this guy favorited all of my work. I'll do it too!" Again, to follow what is right and wrong, it's is the same of what a diamond should not be thought of or given.

What do subscriptions mean?
This is the last one of my three, and a subscription is when somebody has seen great work and expects more of the same work coming in their future. This is when you can see somebody say, "Wow! This is such an inspiring blog! I think this person would make even more these that I like!" or, "This wallpaper is amazing! I wonder if they'll make more in the future!"
Subscriptions are DEFINITELY NOT:
  • A form of high rank
  • Something given in return for you doing it to them
  • and #1 certainly not a way of getting more subscribers: i.e. "This guy has a ton of subscribers, I guess I'll do it too."

What do these three have in common?
Well, diamonds, favorites, and subscriptions are definitely more xp to somebody but they actually show that somebody has appreciated the content that the user has seen, so they can diamond it, favorite it, and subscribe for more content. One huge thing that many people don't see is that:
All of these aren't just given, they're given because that person saw that they deserved it.
That is a huge mistake from many people, and that's the entire problem with sub for sub, diamond for diamond, and favorite for favorite:
Anything given through a content to content system is completely UNDESERVED.
Meaning that they just had somebody click on the diamond, favorite, or subscribe button and that's it. They're done. They don't see any content work, or download it, or actually check of what the user also does. For me, i'm level 18 and only have 33 subscribers. I'm not complaining anymore. I have made a few blogs about people who are unseen for their work. But I think I had before done the entire thing for thing system until I realized that I didn't deserve it!

So that's what a diamond, subscription, or favorite really means.

(I don't show any harsh meanings to _Disco or _CandyCane_ as I like both of them and like their work.)
Thank you for your time.

I don't totaly agree with your meaning of favorite. For me, the favorite button means that the person really appreciate the project and will later use it. Myself for example, I favorite only project that give me inspiration for my work. It's very different from the diamond, because we have a box where are put all the favorite, to see them later. Btw nice blog!
