n a cave there lived a splendid, charming elf named Mictlan Xicholi. Not a magical cosy, magic cave, filled with weapons and a scary smell, nor yet a beautiful, wicked, urban cave with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was an elf-cave, and that means comfort.

One day, after a troubling visit from the orc Ameyalli Metztli, Mictlan leaves his cave and sets out in search of three wild enchantments. A quest undertaken in the company of orc, men and idyllic old folk.

In the search for the orc-guarded enchantments, Mictlan Xicholi surprises even himself with his leadership and skill as a swordsman.

During his travels, Mictlan rescues a sword, an heirloom belonging to Ameyalli. But when Ameyalli refuses to try dying, their friendship is over.

However, Ameyalli is wounded at the Battle of Five Armies and the two reconcile just before Mictlan engages in some serious dying.

Mictlan accepts one of the three wild enchantments and returns home to his cave a very wealthy elf.
