Loads of people seem to be talking about their views on who Herobrine is so I’d better get cracking.

Here is my theory: Herobrine is a hacker. The stuff he does - setting things on fire, taking off the leaves of trees, crashing your game and moving things around in chests - is too much for a virus to cope with. No, I think Herobrine is some super powerful hacker who decided to mess lots of stuff up in Minecraft. He chose the generic Steve skin, added white eyes and boom - Herobrine was born.

I remember when the Herobrine creepy pasta rolled around in 2010-2011, but it's been years since Herobrine was popular in the Minecraft community. Just let me break it down for you, Herobrine is not real. He's just a fictional character that appeared in a forum post as a joke. If he was a hacker then there would be more of him because anyone can simply download a hacked client of the game. The things that you mentioned can be done in a normal vanilla client, so it's not "hacking". You can use sheers to get rid of all the leaves on trees, set things on fire with flint and steel, anyone can move things around in chests, and as for crashing the game, it's easy to make lag machines using various redstone mechanics.

Long story short, he is not real, he's only from a made up story.

Though honestly that would have been a good theory back in the days

That may be true, but I have seen him once, and my world would have told me if redstone was being built by someone else, virus, hacker or player. I had a firewall downloaded. Also, my point is not that he is specifically a hacker, simply that he's not a virus. That would be some pretty powerful virus to complete complex actions that a player would find easy.

Anyway, I'm sure only an experienced hacker could get into an offline singleplayer game.
