WTF Nether?

this was my main world it ha tons of diamondsand was just great over all but one day i try logging on and im just in this huge chunk of the nether with regular monsters and stuff so when i finally make it out everything ive ever built is gone but the land itself is recognizable :( does anyone know why this happened or how? if u do leave the explanation in the comments

Once I was on a server and there were chunks getting mixed up and when I joined my epic castle was a pile of dirt! D: I guess whenever the server started up it got MAJOR errors! XD
