I just made this for fun and the code for the datapack is super messy, it works for me but if something doesn't work on your end, I'm not planning on updating it sorry, the pack is made for survival mode, it will work in creative mode as well, but be sure to hold a crafting table before you try shooting the sword (I know its random, but I made it so that the carrot on a stick for right click detection goes in your offhand when you hold a crafting table, I was gonna put it in the load function, but it wasn't working for some reason) and dont forget to un-zip everything properly!
The recipe for the sword is in the image section of this post :)
When you right click on the sword, it will shoot rotten flesh, MAKE SURE TO HAVE ROTTEN FLESH ON YOU TO BE ABLE TO SHOOT IT and DONT SHOOT IT TOO CLOSE TO YOURSELF
