A total revamp of the vanilla tool system focused around the smithing table.
Start with wooden tools and leather armor and upgrade them all the way to netherite!
Enhance your tools and armor using vanilla items such as echo shards or crying obsidian to give them special attributes.

Includes:
- 3 new armor trims
- 7 new materials
- tool trims
- new enchanting system
- new tool progression system
- full multiplayer support and compatibility with other data packs and mods.
- does not interfere with existing enchantment system
- compatible with vanilla trims and materials

Only looking for cosmetic trims and materials, check out:
www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/more-armor-trims-standalone/

But why?
I don't like the enchanting system.
This new system does not rely on RNG.
It does not require XP.
Enchantments are kept when upgrading to the next tool tier
No duplicate enchantments (Looting/Fortune, Power/Sharpness, etc.)
No mending
General stat bonus enchantments have been removed or made default (Unbreaking, sharpness, protection, power, efficiency).
Specific stat bonus enchantments have been turned into tradeoffs (example. Smite lowers general attack damage, but buffs damage against undead)

How to use it:
Tool upgrades:
Insert tool into smithing table
Add a cobblestone in the trims slot
Add a ingot/gem in the other slot
the progression is as follows:
wood->stone->iron->gold->diamond->netherite

Armor upgrades:
Same as tool upgrades but uses blocks instead (note. chain mail requires a chain)
the progression is as follows:
leather->chain->iron->gold->diamond->netherite

Enhancements:
Choose a specialization and a modifier
Specializations make equipment better in exchange for their general stats (example. Sturdy specialization increases blast resistance on armor in exchange for armor bars)
Modifiers give the equipment a special ability (Fortune, Silk touch, Infinity, etc.)
Apply 1 specialization and 1 modifier to a piece of equipment though the smithing table.

This does not work for MC 1.20.1

I can't even install the data pack. When I go to the folder to copy all the files, it directly doesn't appear on the mc menu to activate the data packs.

I've briefly tested it and it seems to work. This datapack should be compatible with any and all datapacks(unless they are also called smithing). If you want me to add functionality that interacts with survivors elegy please let me know what.

This page is still a WIP, the pack however is mostly finished.
I may make some balancing changes later.
But feel free to install already as updating won't destroy your equipment.

Even if you uninstall the pack after using it your tools will keep their attributes, they simply return too looking like vanilla ones.
