Required Resource Pack
1
This data pack was made in six days for the Datapack Jam: Summer 2025 so there may be bugs or unexpected behaviour. Have fun experimenting! 🐺
This pack is made to work with Minecraft version 1.21.5 and will probably get ported to higher versions later.
Overview
This project adds 11 unique wolf variants to the game.
Each variant can be found naturally in the world or summoned in its specific biome using a special companion summoning item. The crafting recipes for these items include clues about which biome is needed for each wolf.
Using a Nether Star, you can craft an Unset Wolf Staff. If you use it from a distance on one of your custom tamed wolves (I couldn’t find a clean way to prevent right-clicking from making them sit or stand), the staff will transform into a version linked to that specific wolf type. While near your companion, you can then use the staff to access that wolf's unique abilities.
Ocelots have also been changed—they’re now bigger, more aggressive, and can drop Ocelot Statues, which have the potential to contain valuable loot.
Spawn:
Pale oak Gardens.
Special:
Deals damage if hurt
Wolf Staffs are obtained by using the Unset Wolf Staff on a wolf that you have tamed. Each staff has a 20-second cooldown and will only activate if a wolf of the corresponding type is within 25 blocks of the player.
Most Wolf Staffs have an effective range of around 10 blocks — except for a few special ones like the Silent Wolf Staff, Ender Wolf Staff, and Sweet Berry Wolf Staff, which have unique properties and ranges.

Have something to say?
you shouod avoid reusing the same selector multiple times, especially in a function running 20 times/seconds
I like that you use some of the new mechanics
You consume items even in creative
Some wolf look reall buggy and some staff really useless (the effect of the staff is already given by the wolf)
If one of my dog die I can't respawn it?
You're absolutely right about the selectors (I just forgot under pressure).
If a wolf dies, it dies exactly like a vanilla wolf and can't be respawned.
