Cauldrons Are Bad.
What do they do? Hold 3 bottles worth of water? AMAZING! They need an update, so I took it upon myself to do so, introducing, "Better Cauldrons".
With this datapack the new features of the cauldron will include:
That sounds much better, doesn't it! It now has a use that makes it worth it to make other than for a redstone timing. Now currently I didn't add all the potions capable with this new feature, but here are the ones that work (must use the long varent):

- The ability to store lava
- The ability to store potions
- When a player is standing in a cauldron with a stored potion, that player will get that potion effect
- When right-clicking a potion filled cauldron with an arrow you will "dip" the arrow creating a dipped arrow of that potion

- Regeneration
- Strength
- Weakness
- Slow Falling
- Invisibility
- Jump boost
- Water breathing
- Poison
- Fire Resistance
