This is a simple datapack which can be used to add crafting recipes to your world.

These recipes have been added to make the game a bit easier to play, this means anything game breaking like dirt to diamonds have not been added. Some of these recipes also include a bit of loss, For example out of 6 glass you can get 16 panes, but from 16 panes you only get 4 glass back, this is also true for iron bars.


This pack intends to fix some simple frustrations like crafting too many slabs, glass panes etc.

If you have any suggestions be sure to comment them and ill add them in ASAP.

What is added?


All slabs back to full blocks

Chiseled blocks recipes changed

bone blocks give 3 bones

Nether wart block into nether wart

iron bars to ingots

glass panes to glass blocks (All stained variants)



How to install


  1. Download the zip file
  2. extract the zip file, you will get a folder
  3. press the windows key + r and type in %appdata%.
  4. Find the .minecraft folder and open it.
  5. Locate the saves folder and open it.
  6. Find the world folder you want to install the datapack on and open it.
  7. Find and open the folder named "datapacks".
  8. Put the unzipped file inside.
  9. Return to your game and open the world.
  10. Run the following command /datapack enable "file/custom_vanilla_edits"
Run the /reload command if the pack is still not working.To disable the pack do /datapack disable "file/custom_vanilla_edits".



To be added


  • Armour into materials (This causes an exploit with broken armor)
  • Craftable saddles and armor
  • Buckets into iron ingots

It takes 9 bones to make a bone block and you get 3 back? 4 iron bars for 1 ingot? You should just have one iron bar craft into 6. The glass panes is alright, and the slabs are somewhat balanced. Good mod ;P

The iron bars have the same amount of loss as the glass panes, the bone block issue will be fixed on the next update

Nice datapack! However, my resource pack, which was released two moths ago, is also called Better Vanilla. Could you consider changing your pack's name please?

It's for your own good. When you google Better Vanilla, my pack and (a few modpacks with different names) pop up as the top results.
If you change the name, your data pack will be more unique, recognizable, and easier to find when looked up.
