With this datapack, you can convert coal to diamonds by using a piston with a piston to compress the coal. However, you have to compact coal 4 times before it converts to diamonds. There is only a 20% success rate that will actually compress the block (Can be changed in the config). You can tell when it has been compressed because it will make a hissing sound.

Very nice data pack, but as a fun fact, diamonds being formed from coal being under pressure is merely just a fib, since diamonds have been examined to most likely have been around for longer than plants and animals have; since coal is a fossil fuel, it must require dead plant life to form under the pressure, so diamonds can't be made from coal since diamonds have been around for longer than coal.

Diamonds are actually formed from pure carbon being under pressure, whereas coal is formed from dead organic matter under pressure; the only connection between their formations is that they require to be under pressure within the Earth's mantle.

I already knew that diamonds weren't formed from coal under pressure, but just as a bit of extra information, I learned the rest of the information from here: Think About It Thursday: Where Do Diamonds Come From?

This is still a very nice data pack overall, and since this is Minecraft we are talking about, it doesn't have to be scientifically accurate; I just wanted to spread some information to people about the misbelief of diamonds coming from pressurized coal.

Really annoying that CurgeForge keeps showing me those stupid warning everytime I visited the site!

I deleted my Twitch account(Kate120) because of that stupid warning on CurseForge!

I created a new account(Kate1902019) and start over.

Nice. Thank you.

Because stupid Mojang doesn't want diamonds to be renewable! Since coals are renewable.(which is drop from wither skeletons)

What's the set-up of the pistons required to compress the items? I was assuming that you make two pistons face each other and then throw the items between them, but I'm not getting any compression even with a 100% chance.

I will add a screenshot of the setup. You need to have a metal block on the end of the piston. (Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite)
