Really great idea but doesn't work for me with Vanilla Client, singleplayer, no mods, no other datapacks, 1.18.2. The mob gets summoned, but the items just drop onto the ground. I don't know if keeping all your xp is intended but i'd prefer the deadbody to drop your xp or it getting reduced by the vanilla amount

I'll try to fix that with the xp bar, but I can't reproduce your problem with the items. If I make a new vanilla survival world with the datapack, everything works fine (I tested it in 1.18.2). Could you please give me a more precise bug report?
