DESCRIPTION


This data pack makes torches and many other luminous items like glowstone, glowberries, lanters, etc. emit light while in your hand. It also makes certain mobs such as blazes and glow squids glow permanently and dropped light emitting items also glow. The light is server-side and visible to other players. This allows you to explore caves with ease without having to place torches everywhere.

DATAPACK INSTALLATION GUIDE

  • go to your saves folder located here on Windows:
C:\Users(your name)\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

put the zipped file in the data packs folder, and either restart your world or execute /reload

DATAPACK UNINSTALLATION GUIDE


for v1: run this command /function dl:uninstall, and then delete the data pack. Make sure to not reload (/reload or by restarting your world) after running the uninstall command until the data pack is deleted!

for v2+: /datapack disable (the file name depending on version), delete the datapack and run /reload

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

  • You may change settings by running /function dt:config
  • Due to minecraft limitations and the nature of the datapack/mod, this will not work if the entity is completely inside another block (such as tall grass) and it may also obstruct flow of liquids like lava and water.

Changes:

  • optimized the datapack to improve performance significantly
  • glow ink sac now counts as a luminous item
  • added support for spectral arrows
  • renamed config option "fire arrows glow" to "arrows glow" to support both flame arrows and spectral arrows
  • added an uninstall function (/function dt:uninstall)

Bug Fixes:

  • lit creepers wouldn't damage surroundings
  • arrows which were set on fire in the past would glow even if they weren't on fire anymore
  • creepers and players set on fire wouldn't glow
