Bonsai Pots

Grow your very own Bonsai version of plants, a small automatic farm to let your inner self decorate as you want

Works for minecraft java 1.16 - 1.20 +

Setup Bonsai:
  • place a block (end stone if growing chorus)
  • put a hopper under that block (note: disabled hopper will not collect the loot)
  • put a pot on top of that block
  • place an item frame on 1 side of the block
  • put Diamond Axe / Netherite Axe into that item frame
  • fill the pot with plant that you want to farm
  • and now you can channel the drops into chest storage
Grows:
  • all 7 types of trees + Azalea, Flowering Azalea
  • 2 normal shrooms and 2 nether fungi
  • also grows: Fern, Dead Bush, Cactus, Bamboo and Chorus Flower
  • grows faster: Amethyst, Pointed Dripstone
Generates:
  • Calcite / Diorite when: Amethyst, Pointed Dripstone is waterlogged
  • Amethyst Buds when 4x Amethyst Shards are thrown into waterlogged Amethyst

Works with:
  • all* other datapacks
  • in singleplayer
  • in multiplayer
Installation:
  • download this datapack
  • put it in words datapacks folder

This datapack is absolutely amazing, glad I came across it. If you're open to suggestions, would you add flowers/blocks to drop dyes using a bowl in the frame (closest to mortar & pestle I can think of)

Does this work in 1.17? because no matter how i went about trying to force it to work (zipped, unzipped, cheats on, reload 10+ times) it just didnt do a thing. Do i have to have turn on daylight cycles?

it 100% works for minecraft java release 1.17.0 and does not require anything else.

try running /function fafik77:bonsai_pots/load as some people reported that some datapacks dont want to auto load.
also make sure that hopper is not locked by redstone signal, item frame with axe is placed on block between hopper and pot, and that your potted plant is listed in Grows section

There is a way if you are willing to edit one file.
  1. extract the Bonsai Pots.zip into Bonsai Pots (folder)
  2. go into "data\fafik77\functions\bonsai_pots\on_clock\bonsai.mcfunction"
  3. comment or delete the lines that don't interest you (you will need to use some better text editor then Notepad / or download the updated datapack)
list of shrooms: potted_red_mushroom, potted_brown_mushroom, potted_crimson_fungus, potted_warped_fungus
