This is my take on a flashlight in game. Fully survival friendly, and non laggy!

I believe it is multiplayer friendly, but I haven't tested it.

Craft the flashlight, right click, and enjoy!

Putting a golden helmet on will also make you have a flashlight effect, kind of like a mining helmet!

The main problem with that is that the invisible light blocks, the way this flashlight works, can only be a brightness of 15, and I don't want to lag the world by adding and removing a ton more blocks. I agree that lighter would look cool, but it is impractical.

Since I have seen other Datapacks similar to yours, but have Brighter lights
What light level DO your light blocks for your flashlight use?

Note: None of the others use Dynamic Lights.

I use the max light level, but they probably use a lot more light sources to make it brighter, I also limit the range of the lights, so that is also a factor

Wherever you shine it, it permanently lights up that area and that area can only be dark again if you break the light blocks the flashlight placed. is this intentional? right-clicking to turn it off only makes it stop shining, it doesnt remove the light you just placed down.

That is strange as when I did my testing, it worked 100% of the time. It is made by creating the light blocks and then removing them with a full command around the player, and I don’t know why that wouldn’t be working. Sorry for a delayed reply, I have been quite busy.
