Functional Fletching


Functional Fletching is a Minecraft Datapack that adds a new use to the Fletching Table: Crafting new and unique arrows.


1.20.4 and up ONLY! THIS WON'T WORK IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS


You can now craft arrows easier and more efficiently, and you can even craft new types of arrows!
Mix and match different tips, shafts, and fletchings to create fun and exciting arrows.


Craft the new fletching table by putting a vanilla fletching table into the crafting grid.
Villagers will NOT use the functional fletching table as a workstation to be a fletcher.

Functional:
Amethyst Shard - Pierces enemies
TNT - Explodes on impact
Snowball - Gives enemies the slowness effect
Ender Pearl - Teleports shooter on impact
Chorus Fruit - Teleports enemies on impact
Sponge - Spawns sponge on impact
Spider Eye - Poisons enemies on impact
Coal - Lights up area on impact
Copper Ingot - Summons lightning on impact
Wither Rose - Gives enemies the wither effect on impact
Magma Cream - Lights enemies on fire on impact
Wind Charge - Creates a burst of wind on impact
Slime Ball - Makes the arrow bounce up to 5 times
Diamond Arrow - Gives the arrow much more power
Brick - Makes the arrow have 5x gravity
Nether Quartz - Makes the arrow break into fragments on impact
Eye of Ender - Seeks enemies
Clay Ball - Deals no damage

Stick
Bone - Creates bone particles in the air
Blaze Rod - Creates fire particles in the air
Bamboo
Breeze Rod - Creates wind particles in the air

Functional:
End Rod - Removes gravity from arrow
Echo Shard - Teleports arrow up to 50 blocks away
Fletchings
Cosmetic:
Feather
Kelp
String
Cobweb

Functional:
Phantom Membrane - Removes gravity from arrow
Dragon Breath - Doubles arrow speed after firing
Ink Sac - Creates ink particles when fired
Glow Ink Sac - Creates glow ink particles when fired
Prismarine Crystal - Makes the arrow travel normally through water

i wish datapacks were less limiting... this is an amazing pack but its so sad we cant just add a gui to a block...



i will still use and love it tho. would it be compatible with something like teired bows?

It should be compatible with any tiered bows pack, however arrows do get buggy when they go too fast, so there might be some issues if the bows also modify velocity data.

Hmmm, so I'm trying to make this work, haven't done much with these in the past. I'm using the data pack and it seems to work, but the arrows I create are purple and black checkerboards as is the fletching interface. I added the data pack to my world and the resource pack to my profile. Not sure what is wrong.

Are you using the pack in 1.20.4? The textures won't work in previous versions, and maybe the datapack still does (I never tested other versions). If you are using 1.20.4, can you give me more info so I can try to recreate the issue?

you technically don't but the user experience will not be nearly as good if you don't
